Come check out Forum Snowboarding's 6th team inspired feature film at Lake Tahoe Community College on Friday, Oct. 30th. It's free and the movie rips, come hang out. Sierra-at-Tahoe's gonna be there, and who knows, they might even have a season pass to give away. Doors open at 7:30pm.
This week I find myself in sunny Southern California on the production set for the 2010-11 Forum/Special Blend/Foursquare catalog shoot along with Filmer Kyle Schwartz. I'd love to disclose the details but you'll just have to wait. I can tell you this, Ian Ruhter is the photographer and as can be expected, he is bringing his unique vision to the table. More to follow
This is a photo of Andreas Wiig mid frontside 1080 at Northstar-at-Tahoe during the filming of Double Decade. Andreas has these really dialed. Andreas has a fan blog of his own, check it out HERE.
This photo was taken at Mammoth Mtn. on my last shooting day for the winter of 2008. The rider is Zac Marben and that guy can do a handplant on anything at any speed...this one being 2 miles per hour. The dude on the chair immediately to the left is , at the time, newly appointed Vans TM Doran Laybourn.
I feel pretty lucky to have a couple shots in the November '09 Transworld Pat Moore Interview. He's really a world class dude and a ripping snowboarder, and we both hail from the great state of New Hampshire. So congrats to him for the interview and congrats to Ian Ruhter, mi Amigo, for producing another outstanding cover. His 13th.
Mark Landvik sends a very stylish Stalefish through a burnt forest deep in the Coastal Range, B.C., Everyone who saw this photo loved it, but alas, it found no home. Welcome Home.
As a landscape photographer, one needs to be acutely aware of such things as moon phases, sunrise/sunset times, twilight, etc...I stumbled across a site the other day and found an interesting application that combines these very bits of information with Google Earth to accurately pre-plan for a given landscape shoot. Basically, with GPS coordinates, you can pinpoint the location that you want to take a photograph, and see the whereabouts of the sunrise/sunset. Kinda cool, interested? check it out HERE. Take note: this is a beta version, I haven't had any issues with it and find it to be an outstanding resource. Thanks Stephen!
Here's another unused photo. Right after Scotty nailed this the police took all my stuff. I was pretty bummed but Scotty and Grenier have a quick tongue and convinced the pig to give my gear back. Thanks guys.
As a teacher of digital photography, I often tell students that they should upgrade their memory in their computers to maximize their Photoshop experience. The suggestion is usually met with some kind of fear or uncertainty. I upgraded the memory in my Macbook Pro the other day and decided to film it. I have changed the memory in every type of computer, from PC to Mac, laptop to desktop, and although every computer is different, it is always easy. The idea of this tutorial is to show you how easy it is and not necessarily a step -by-step instruction. I believe the proverb goes like this:
"Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
